No, a referral from a doctor is not necessary.
Referral letters are only required when being referred to a medical doctor who is a specialist. Dr Kirk Wilson is a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and a registered acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner. Both of these entitle him to use the title of doctor. He is however not a medicinal doctor nor does he have a medical specialisation.
